Melanie Wright is a veteran teacher with experience in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Indiana. She received her Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Ball State University. She also received a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction and an administrative license from Anderson University. Melanie is a member of the Indiana Coalition of Public Education and the American Federation of Teachers-Indiana. She has been actively involved in her community through projects such as the Little Bronco Dance Clinic and Christmas Angel Tree.

Melanie is a former State Representative for House District 35. In that capacity, she served as the ranking minority member for the Agricultural and Rural Development Committee as well as the Family, Children, and Human Affairs and the Ways and Means Committees. Melanie was also the co-chair for the Child Services Oversight Committee.
